New Parent of Google!! Alphabet

Google has unveiled a surprise restructuring, creating a new parent company called Alphabet Inc.

Under the re-branding, Google will retain its best-known businesses, such as search, apps, YouTube and Android.

Some of the newer entities, such as the investment and research divisions, the “smart-home” unit Nest, and the drone arm will be run under Alphabet.

Google founder Larry Page said it would create a simpler structure for what had become a diverse group of businesses.

“This new structure will allow us to keep tremendous focus on the extraordinary opportunities we have inside of Google,” he said in the blog-post.

“Our company is operating well today, but we think we can make it cleaner and more accountable,” he said. “The whole point is that Alphabet companies should have independence and develop their own brands.”

Mr Page will become chief executive of Alphabet, with senior vice president Sundar Pichai becoming CEO of Google.

Mr Page’s fellow Google co-founder Sergey Brin will become president of Alphabet, and Eric Schmidt, the current Google chairman, will be executive chairman of the holding company.

Who is in a name?

Google’s new chief financial officer, Ruth Porat, will hold the same title for both Google and Alphabet.

Alphabet includes

3. Google (Search, Maps, YouTube, Android, Ads, Apps)
4. Google Ventures (venture capital business)
5. Google Capital (investment fund)
6. Google X (auto-driving cars, Google Glass, internet by balloon, moonshots)
7. Life Sciences (the glucose-sensing contact lens people)
8. Nest (smoke alarms, home cameras, thermostats & connected home devices)

Google will retain control of at least these business units:

• Search
• Ads
• Maps
• Apps
• YouTube
• Android

It will also keep control of unspecified technical infrastructure.

BGC Partners’ investment analyst Colin Gillis said the new structure should give investors greater clarity on strategy and how much Google was spending on new products.

“There’s been a lot of speculation about how much money they put into these other ventures,” Mr Gillis told Bloomberg. “That will come to an end. This also gives them the structure to add in another business line if they were to acquire something. The mechanism is in place.”

The name Alphabet was chosen for two reasons, Mr Page said. It represents language, “the core of how we index with Google search“, and because Alpha-bet means “investment return above benchmark, which we strive to do“.

Hacking: Creativity or Criminality

You read many such news everyday. Ever concentrated on them? You would say those are the job of bad guys. The one who sits all time on computers and typing something on it. Right.
We are living in 21’st century. Century where technology revolves around us. Everything around us is getting upgraded to be automated. Every information about us are more on social networking sites, government operated servers and other online sites then anywhere else. In such a condition what if someone gets or destroy them? What if they stole our money? What if they use our computers remotely to hack something higher level systems? We wouldn’t be able to trace the real one and if something wrong has been done keeping you in between, you would land on jail.

You say that its because of those hackers. Ever thought what would have made them to do so. Few months back Edward Snowden, a former CIA technical assistant leaked a news saying that NSA records about million calls and emails everyday. It says that we are never in a privacy. Don’t you think that you too must know something about these hackers. Because all of them are not bad.

So really who are these Hackers? How can we know them? Here are the answers. Hackers are mainly of three types.
Black Hat:- The real criminals who hack into computer systems for self or destructive purposes.
White Hat:- White hat hackers or penetration testers are the good guys who hack for security purposes. They are the security expert guys.
Grey Hat:- These are the one who don’t have any malicious intentions but hack for fun.

The world in this generation requires the computer experts. Not the bad ones. But good ones to stop these bad ones as we don’t know anything about this hacking thing. Not all the hackers are bad. Those are the bad ones who spoil the rests. We feel that these are wrong because we don’t know that skills and feel frightened by it. History states that people fears from the thing that they don’t understand. Let me give you a glimpse of their thoughts.

This was a manifesto writer by a hacker in late 19’s. It went viral and became a reply of their identity. I personally thinks that hackers are programmers or computer experts(the one who know knows how the computer really works) of which few choose to use their skill for evil and other for good. Its us who become vulnerable to there hacks because we keen to stay away from the reality and fail to secure our machines from such attacks. We must acknowledge our-self to the basics of computer systems and securing them. I expect Computer Security/ Ethical Hacking to be one thing that’s going to design the future and we must be ready to openly welcome it.

Would Machines overtake Human Race?

Today we are living in a generation where human beings are depended on machines. They are around us everywhere. Though we created it, today its intelligence is overtaking our limit. On the other side due to the use of machines we human beings are becoming less productive and creative. People nowadays don’t remember mobile no., important dates and other useful details.

Yesterday Prof Stephen Hawking, one of Britain’s pre-eminent scientists, has said that efforts to create thinking machines pose a threat to our very existence. He told : “The development of full artificial intelligence could spell the end of the human race.” Intel created a custom-built system for Hawking — called ACAT, or Assistive Context Aware Toolkit — that is twice as fast as his old system. The technology, already employed as a smartphone keyboard app, learns how the professor thinks and suggests the words he might want to use next. Not only him but also many other peoples also had fear of self thinking machines.

Many movies had also been made on the same topic. The movie WarGames shows how a self teaching computer in a mission of playing a game hacks into the defence system and hacks 24 digit launch codes by brute force. A step ahead movie Matrix shows that how human creates a computer capable of thinking and taking decisions, and it without human Knowledge creates its duplicates and  becomes a reason for the end of human race. Not only this but many other movies such as Transformers, iRobots and others also showed the same topic. Also a movie She came in which human interacts with the program that has emotions.

With the demand of new development many companies and researchers had started research on Artificial Intelligence (AI). If the AI revolution takes place, many people shall loose their jobs as these AI machines would take their place. A super computer is capable of processing data a million times faster then human brains.

Just think if one day we are to face these intelligent machines, what shall we do. The only addition quality that we human have above this machines is emotions and thinking capability. What when the machines too have them? I just don’t want to be controlled by machines. What do you people think about the topic.

Don’t ignore it saying it’s a fate. Problem with the majority is that all fear of failing. And it’s right, you can’t oversee your responsibilities. But you can follow your dreams along side your daily schedule.
